Change Analytics in SAP MDG is used to analyze master-data attribute changes and change requests on SAP S/4HANA 2021 onwards. The implementation has two main parts: generate the backend CDS views in MDGIMG, then build the frontend analytics layer in either embedded SAP Fiori/Smart Business or SAP Analytics Cloud.

Process flow

  1. Start transaction MDGIMG and generate Basic CDS Views for the MDG data model.
  2. Regenerate the Basic CDS View after any data model extension.
  3. Open MDGIMG > Process Analytics > Generate CDS Views for Change Analytics.
  4. Define the CDS configuration: name, data model, main entity type, Analysis Target, package, and optional read access logging domain.
  5. Select Attribute for Change Analysis and Additional Attributes for Report Drilldown from Type 1 or Type 4 entities.
