How do I perform an initial load of existing financial master data from SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA into an MDG Hub?
Use MDMGX in the source ECC or SAP S/4HANA client to extract the existing financial master data as XML, transfer the XML files to a directory accessible by the MDG Hub, and import them with DIF so a change request is created and processed to activation.

The SAP-supported initial-load flow for MDG-F is to extract existing accounting and controlling master data from the source ECC or SAP S/4HANA system with MDMGX, produce XML files, transfer those files to a source directory accessible to the MDG Hub, and then import them using DIF so the data enters MDG through a change request.
Process flow
- Identify the governing financial master data in the ECC or S/4HANA source client.
- Use transaction MDMGX in the source system to extract the data.
- Generate XML output from MDMGX.
- Transfer the XML files to a source directory accessible by the MDG Hub.
- Open DIF in the MDG Hub and start the import.
- Let DIF create a change request for the imported data.
- Process the change request through workflow and activate it.
- Validate the resulting active master data before go-live.
Source/client system -> Set up Extraction -> Start Extraction

MDGIMGMDG Hub -> DIF source/archive directory configuration
Define the source and archive directories used by DIF to read the XML files.
