How do I maintain BOM, PIR, or Production Versions in a follow-up work item after SAP MDG material activation?

Use the standard MDG material Change Request for governance, then trigger a customer-specific post-activation workflow that creates a dialog follow-up work item for BOM, PIR, PV, or similar related objects. Open a customer Web Dynpro app from the work item, pass `IV_CREQUEST` and `IV_WIID`, and expose direct links to the maintenance transactions.

Use a follow-up workflow only after the main material Change Request has been activated. The guide’s pattern is: activate the CR, trigger a customer-specific background workflow, create a dialog work item, show it in MDG Inbox/POWL, and open a customer Web Dynpro application with links to the related maintenance transactions. For the active CR phase, the guide instead recommends a reduced step UI via `MDGIMG > General Setting > Process Modelling > Change Requests > Configure Properties of Change Request Step`.

Process flow

  1. Process the material through the normal SAP MDG Change Request.
  2. Activate the Change Request successfully.
  3. Trigger a customer-specific follow-up workflow after activation.
  4. Create a dialog work item for the related-object activity.
  5. Assign the work item to the responsible agent.
  6. Publish the task in MDG Inbox/POWL.
  7. Open a customer Web Dynpro app from the work item.
  8. Pass `IV_CREQUEST` and `IV_WIID` to the UI.
